Brainspotting is a novel mind-body approach developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003. Brainspotting bypasses the neocortex (perception, decision making, language) to access the subcortical part of the brain (emotional and reptilian brain) holding trauma, and engages parts responsible for self-regulation. This allows BSP to quickly release symptoms of trauma and bring relief from the experience of psychological and frequently physical pain.

A typical brainspotting session involves the use of a pointer to find the relevant eye position or a brainspot. This eye position corresponds to the client’s activation in the body while recalling a traumatic memory.

By attending to the brainspot, the client settles into a naturally occurring state of focused mindfulness. The processing will continue until the trauma is resolved, as evidenced by the client no longer being triggered/activated by it.

This process involves a gradual decrease in the original activation connected to a brainspot. Often transforming into a positive experience.

In Brainspotting, the relationship between the therapist and client is crucial. The empathetic presence, loving attunement, witnessing presence of the therapist allows for profound healing to occur.

Brainspotting Explained by Dr. David Grand

Who gets benefits from our Brainspotting therapy?

Trauma survivors undergoing physical or psychological trauma may benefit from our brain spotting. This therapy’s effectiveness as a treatment option for people dealing with:

  • Trauma of any type
  • Anxiety
  • Problems with rage
  • Phobias
  • Consuming drugs excessively
  • Chronic fatigue and discomfort
  • Issues with impulse control
  • Performance issues in sports

What comes in our Brainspotting therapy session?

Mental health experts employ the treatment method known as brainspotting. As this occurs, our therapist keeps an eye out for even the smallest reactionary indications. Consequently, the following are signals that point to the possibility of a brain spot:

  • As therapist we starts by using a pointer to guide the patient’s focus throughout their field of vision. When the eyes reach a brain spot, our therapist notes its location.

  • Second, the patient uses the discovered brain spots to explain what transpired.
  • Thirdly, gently facilitated sessions can reprocess specific memories in a safe environment.
  • It is now possible to completely let go of upsetting emotions and memories, supporting your body’s natural healing process.

Why choose us?

Our therapist will get to know you better

It is usually recommended for therapists with brain-spotting training to take the time to get to know their clients to build trust and a sense of security. This may involve speaking for all or part of the first session to understand you better, answer your queries, and put you at relief.

Our therapist might use guided imagery or relaxation methods

We first work relaxation techniques like guided imaginings or meditation before starting brain spottingtheraphy. These activities are designed to relax you and prepare you for any problematic thoughts, feelings, or memories that may come up during the session.

Our therapist will give instructions on how to find your physical emotions

Brainspotting is one of many mind-body therapies that constantly aim to strengthen the mind-body connection by helping patients become more aware of how their bodies respond to particular memories. Our brain spotting therapist will ask you to locate different emotions in your body, describe how they feel, and track these internal feelings throughout the session.

Our therapist will help you analyze the thoughts and feelings

Discussing your experiences, including the thoughts, feelings, and memories that came to the surface, is often reserved for the end of the session by our brain-spotting therapists. You can use this moment to reminisce on the session’s events, including any shifts in your emotions or thoughts on the upsetting or traumatic incident you processed.

How our Brainspotting therapy helps you?

A patient could gain a wide range of benefits through our brain spotting therapy. The specific help will vary depending on the patient and the reason for their pain, but generally speaking, people who follow this approach may experience the following:

  • Relief from any discomfort the experience may have caused physically.
  • A positive change in outlook, vigor, and attitude.
  • Increased determination to fight addiction or compulsive conduct.
  • The ability to resist getting stuck in unflinchingly negative feelings and beliefs.
  • Lift your relationships with friends and family.
  • Adore the things you do every day.
